  • Secondary memory is not directly accessible by CPU.
  • It is always non volatile in nature.
  • It is made up of magnetic & optical material.
  • It stores bulk amount of data in single unit.
  • It is less expensive.
  • It is also known as auxiliary memory or external memory. 
  • Example: Hard disk, Hoppy disk, magnetic supes, etc.
